The Michigan Association of State Universities Awards Recipients of the 10th Annual Distinguished Professor Award

In April 6, 2016

A professor of mathematics who authored a free online calculus textbook, a professor of chemistry dedicated to undergraduate learning, and a professor of journalism who involves her community and local high schools in teaching have been selected as Distinguished Professor of the Year Award recipients from Michigan’s 15 public universities.

The Michigan Distinguished Professor of the Year award recognizes the outstanding contributions and dedication exhibited by the faculty from Michigan’s 15 public universities to the education of undergraduate students. Each university was invited to nominate a faculty member who has had a significant impact on undergraduate student learning through various activities, particularly classroom instruction, applied research, experiential learning, innovation and mentoring. The 2016 recipients are Matthew Boelkins, Grand Valley State University; Brian P. Coppola, University of Michigan; and Sue Ellen Christian, Western Michigan University.

The Academic Affairs Officers will recognize the nominees and recipients on April 15, 2016 during a luncheon held at the Lansing Center. This is the tenth year for this award. Congratulations!
