October 1, 2015 -- The association of state public universities has a new name and logo, reflecting its mission as a center point for public university collaboration on a variety of matters. The Presidents Council, State Universities of Michigan is now known as the Michigan Association of State Universities.
Michigan’s Public Universities Already Operate Openly -- September 1, 2015
Concerns about how Michigan’s universities operate, as expressed by Michigan state Rep. Martin Howrylak (R-Troy) are much appreciated. However, it seems his proposal to mandate that these institutions be held to some superior level of “openness” in governing board meetings is a solution in search of a problem.
Presidents Council Awards Recipients of the 9th Annual Distinguished Professor Award (PDF) - Two chemistry professors -- Dr. Ryan Sweeder from Michigan State University and Dr. Andrew Feig from Wayne State University, and neuroscience professor Dr. Gary Dunbar from Central Michigan have been selected as Distinguished Professor of the Year Award recipients from Michigan’s 15 public universities. The Academic Affairs Officers recognized the nominees and recipients on April 10, 2015 during a luncheon held at the Lansing Center. This was the ninth year for this award. Congratulations!
