Gilmour Named WSU's Interim President

The Wayne State University Board of Governor's this morning appointed former Ford Motor Co. CFO Allan Gilmour as interim president of the university. Gilmour, 75, will replace previous president Jay Noren, who resigned July 20 after two years in office to be closer to his wife, Sheri (a provost at Illinois State University), who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Technological University celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest building last week on the shores of the waters that it aims to study and help protect. “It’s heartwarming to see this many people who are passionate about the Great Lakes,” Michigan Tech president Glenn D. Mroz told the crowd. The Great Lakes Research Center will be located on Michigan Tech’s waterfront on the Keweenaw Waterway, which connects on both ends to Lake Superior.
